Our first action as a group was to create a shared ‘google drive’ folder to allow us to share the work and preparation as we went along. We created a production schedule that would allow us to stay on track and consider what steps had to be taken before the later stages of shooting. On reflection, it may have been easier to follow and ensure we were on task if we had created a Gantt chart. The schedule is as follows and includes some ideas and plans for each stage:
1. Areas to Research (for Monday 11th feb)
· Media coverage
· Science - why does it occur and when
· Treatment/ recognition
· 1st person accounts
· Relating misophonia to other disorders (i.e mental illness)
2. Interviews: how to structure interviews, what to ask and who (week 5 & 6)
Speak to Katy and a few others (online too) about what they would find difficult to watch how not to trigger misophonia potentially through visuals
Start to come up with questions and Specific phrasing:
Who can we speak to?
· Katy
· 3x meadows share respondents
· 2x other personal sources
3. Structuring, narrative, visuals & concept art (week 7)
· PLAYFUL!
· Animating over live action clips (over a chewing mouth etc.)
· Use stop motion puppets
· Using pleasant noises instead
· Start off with people saying/shouting noises that annoy/trigger them (layering recordings, showing repetition etc.). People that have misophonia and don’t… then delve into a particular story.
Showing the real struggle faced by individuals as well as the more ‘petty’ annoyances experienced by others.
· Showing recognition of mental illness and relative unawareness of misophonia.
· Using subtitles with silence/ white noise
