This week, alongside working on my animatic I attempted a test transition between 'normal' paper to my deckled edge paper. I kind of simulated a finer grain and irregular edge on photoshop:
I then went for a zoom out effect:
Also had a bit of a think about audio and the sort of soundscape that will accompany the film to give some depth and add to the atmosphere.
Having said that, I'm also still considering the possibility of using a discussion between me, my mum and my gran... I've been floating this idea for a while and Nichola has mentioned using a voiceover too. I recorded a call with my mum this week and feel like quite a lot of interesting moments came from it (and it was a nice discussion in general). I'll listen back to it and pick out some key moments which might help me come up with more of a direction/ more talking points. Then I can follow this up with another chat, and one with my granny. I can think about assembling this into a single track alongside working on my visuals. Not sure if this is the right direction, but I'd like to explore it.
If I don't end up using the dialogue, I'd like to pursue working with a sound designer/ composer. It would be good to have the opinion of a musician to make me think about what might be best. I'm in touch with a couple of students who worked on the 10x10 project who I can send my finished animatic and some concept images soon - but I might also pursue any contacts that we can get through the tutors (there was mention of putting us in touch with the composition for film students soon).
